Benefit Programs

Clarke County Department of Social Services provides aid to the county’s vulnerable citizens to assist them in achieving self-sufficiency. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as the food stamp program, assists in ensuring everyone has equal access to nutritional food. Medical assistance is administered locally through CCDSS to help low-income citizens access medical and health-related services. Energy Assistance and Child Care Subsidy are available to income-eligible families to help offset the cost of utilities and child care. Temporary Assistance for Needy for Needy Families (TANF) provides temporary financial and employment services to enable families with children to become self-supporting.
