Patrol Division

The Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division is six Patrol Deputies, two Patrol Sergeants, and two Traffic Enforcement Deputy. The Patrol Division enforces the Criminal Code of Virginia, Clarke County Ordinances, and traffic laws as well as investigates crimes and serves civil papers.

The Sheriff’s Office offers Property Checks and Extra Patrol Requests. An Extra Patrol Request alerts the Sheriff’s Office to potential issues involving traffic or areas of the county where a resident believes more attention is necessary. A Property Request asks a Sheriff’s Deputy to check on a home or business while the owner is away or the business is closed. Note: Requesting property checks is not an alternative to proactively securing your property to reduce the risk of criminal activity, but this program does offers an additional measure of security.
