Clarke County Emergency Management continues to monitor impacts from the winter storm. At this time most roads are covered and icy. Travel is not recommended unless absolutely necessary.
There are currently no major power outages but electric utilities have been notified by the grid operator that outages may be necessary as demand peaks because of the extreme cold temperatures.
In the event of sustained, long-term outages, Clarke County is prepared to open warming shelters in facilities with back up generator power. If necessary, locations and hours of operation will be posted on County social media accounts and the website. We continue to receive updates from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management and utility providers. Please check back here for further updates.
