The Clarke County Board of Supervisors is providing notice of an intention to propose ordinances for passage and will conduct three public hearings in the Berryville Clarke County Government Center Main Meeting Room, 101 Chalmers Court, 2nd Floor, Berryville, VA, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 6:30 pm, or as soon thereafter as the matters may be heard, to hear public comment on the following:
PH2025-08: CC2025-04. Proposed text amendment to amend Code of Clarke County Chapter 175 (Vehicles and Traffic), adding Section 175-11 (Operator to give full time and attention to driving). The purpose is to create a new traffic regulation at the request of the Clarke County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office which states, “No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon the highways of this County without giving his full time and attention to the operation of the vehicle. Every person convicted of this violation shall be guilty of a traffic infraction punishable by a fine of not more than $500.”
Information regarding the above matters, including copies of the proposed text amendments, may be examined on the County’s website (www.clarkecounty.gov) and at the County Administration office located in the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center, 101 Chalmers Court, Berryville, Virginia. Any person desiring to speak on the above matters should appear at the appointed time and place. Written copies of statements are requested but not required.
